At Christmas time when my house was on a Holiday Tour I wanted to do something with these UGLY lights on the kitchen ceiling. So After many tries I finally figured out a way to cover them with lace. ( You have to be careful with glues as they cannot be close to heat.) When I tried that first without reading the glue label...LOL...the lace was falling down each time after 12 hours. So I finally took the plastic covers down and used sticky back VELCRO, applying it to the outside edges of the plastic and the edges of the lace..WALA! It is still stuck and I decided to leave it up all year. Fun!

Here is a pic of my KITCHEN HUTCH all dressed for the summer. I found these Park Designs dishes after reading someone else's blog late one night. It only took a minute...Mr. Google knows everything!

My good blogging friend KAREN MARTINSEN put me onto the GERANIUMS from Jo-Ann this past spring...so I ran out (the night before leaving on my vacation! LOL) and bought a few...actually all of the RED ones they had left! I love them and have them all over the house!

Did ya see the STARS on the salt 'n pepper shakers...

Oops, looks like a red, white and blue PLAID snuck in here. LOL

A 4th of July SURPRISE!
When I got up this morning and went into my kitchen there was this beautiful vase of ROSES that my S.O. (significant other) had placed on my table. He snuck in while I was sleeping! He is a sweetheart and boy, can he grow ROSES!
Hi To All My Prim Friends!
As you know I like to "change things" for the seasons and I especially love "Americana" for the summer so I (think) I am going to show you a bunch of the Americana accessories I use in my home...some even all year round.
I am patriotic person who loves her country and yes, I cry at parades when the flag goes by or when I hear the Star Spangled Banner. I think our Military forces are the best in the world and am absolutely dismayed that this silly war is still going on!
I hope you enjoy these pics and come back soon. And a Happy Forth of July to all!
Hugs,
Joy

Winter to Summer Changes

Here in the Sacramento Valley it gets so hot in the summer-time that I like to change out my bedding for a cleaner, cooler look. Here are some pictures of how it looks when it changes from winter to summer. The red is almost gone and blue takes its place. I think I got it done just in time cause it is going to be 100 degrees tomorrow...they say it is a "dry heat" (as opposed to humid) but I can tell you, 100 is hot no matter what the humidity. Getting into your car is like getting into an oven! :o(
At least decorating for Christmas is easy! LOL Have a great 4th of July and KEEP COOL!

Dear Friends: Now that it is almost summer I am finally getting finished with Spring decor. I have this lovely bunch of "coneflowers" made by Shari at HOMESPUN AND PRIMITIVES out of sort of a stiffened felt. They are so "Prim" and when I was adding a little "mustard color" to my great room after the Christmas holidays, they were just the touch I needed for the fireplace mantel. (Now if I can just get the picture on here this will make sense.)
In a day or so I fly off to Minnesota, which is "going home" for me. Grandson is graduating from high school and I can't miss it. He's a great kid, totally in love with his car. :-) Will spend a few days with my daughter (his mom) and we plan to take in a huge Flea Market. That will be fun so I usually bring an extra suitcase to bring back my goodies rather than ship by Fed-X, etc. Last time I visited there I took a long, narrow basket to get a price on shipping it..the fee was $58 so I carried it on the plane as one of my two allowable "carry-on" items and didn't have to pay anything. After Minnesota I will travel to Iowa where my 13 yr. old Granddaughter will take part in a Dance recital and probably talk "Prim" decorating with her mom (my first-born) the rest of the time.
So I won't be posting for a couple of weeks or months. I don't want you all to get overwhelmed! LOL and :-)

Spring-Transformed Hutch, finally!!

Well my dear blogging friends...so much for "a few days" from my last post! I DID have my Hutch "re-arranged for spring" but I still didn't know how to put pictures on my computer! Then everything went wrong with this computer and my "significant-other/computer guy" had to go out of town so I have had to wait and wait and wait. But, sweet person that he is, he helped me and here is a pic. of the Hutch in "Spring" mode, less cluttered and mostly in white. I like the "openess" of the whole look and will enjoy it for a while before I change it again for "Summer." LOL. Having a big red piece of furniture can be a challenge, but every time I think of re-doing it, it involves cutting off parts, sanding and then re-painting and antiquing...too much work so I just work around the red. So we shall see what my next project becomes...I need a new "single-door-pie-safe for my sun-room because I need more display space. (Don't we all!) And I need to choose new colors for the outside of my house. Now that can become a chore. How come I can choose colors for clients in "a blink of an eye" but when it comes to myself...well, stay tuned.
Hugs, Joy
